Summary/Abstract: The goal of this paper is to clarify the concept of work safety culture as a term, as well as a theoretical and research area with the intention of capturing and considering an important group of phenomena, events and processes related to work safety culture that arise and develop within an organisation. The importance for the work safety of currently occurring cultural changes has already been pointed out, especially in the area of semantics – with regard to changes in values and their significance, and in the behavioural area – with emphasis put on behaviour patterns of employees. The considerations outlined in the paper were accompanied by a number of problem questions. What should an employee know about the culture of work safety? Why do they need this knowledge? What is/can be the impact of work safety culture on employees’ behaviour, and on the functioning of the organisation as a whole?
