Summary/Abstract: This paper looks at the term “safety culture of an organisation”. In this context, it was necessary to define “technical safety culture” to stress the importance of the process approach, which is the manifestation of the use of technical procedures within safety culture in the interest of improving technical safety on the example of a shopping mall. Emphasis has been placed on the role of legal acts for ensuring technical safety. The paper discussed the role of technical systems that contribute to safety of a commercial facility. The technical procedures, in turn, have been discussed with reference to the actions that contribute to working order of devices and installations in the analysed facility. The structure of the target system of technical safety management in a shopping mall has been proposed in the process approach. Requirements have been discussed in reference to working order of devices and their defectiveness and its causes have been analysed. The paper also discusses the necessity of initiating necessary actions aimed at improvement of the existing situation with safety taken into consideration, including technical safety as a core value in the culture of an organisation.
