Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: This objective of the study is to present the situation of graduates of state-funded universities of business and economics on the labour market and show the analysis results in the context of current changes in rules of government financing policy for public universities in Poland. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research methods include critical literature review on the match between higher education offer and labour market needs, as well as summarizing data from Polish Graduate Tracking System. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The study presents international experiences with use of labour market information about graduate employability in formulas of funding higher education institutions. The next section consists of the analysis of relative employability outcomes of graduates of universities of business and economics. The article concludes with discussion on the possibilities of using data gathered from Polish Graduate Tracking System in funding formulas for higher education institutions. RESEARCH RESULTS: Employment rates of graduates of state-funded universities of business and economics are at high level in comparison to graduates of other types of universities. From this point of view, financial incentives for reducing the number of students in state-funded universities of business and economics are not favorable for the economy. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: In order to adapt higher education to the needs of the labor market, it would be beneficial to use the information from Polish Graduate Tracking System. Such a modification would make it possible to add matching the needs of the labour market to the government objectives of quality-based funding of higher education.
