Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the paper is an analysis of an impact of entrepreneurial activities in the academic environment on enhancing the quality of human capital. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem is: which competences are acquired by entrepreneur as part of the implementation of an academic venture? The analysis is based on the results of qualitative empirical study of 52 enterprises originating from the academic environment. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The implementation of academic venture, and in particular, the transition to next stages of its development, is associated with the acquisition of a number of competences. They have been identified, based on the model assuming five stages of academic venture development. RESEARCH RESULTS: The conducted analysis demonstrated the possibility of linking the process of implementation of the academic entrepreneurial venture, with the process of human capital development. It was shown that as a result of the entrepreneurial process, all components of human capital involved in this process are changed: knowledge, skills and abilities. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Regardless of the success of an academic venture, its implementation enriches human capital. The more stages of development pass the venture, the richer the range of competences will be developed, as each of them requires a set of features that is different from the previous stages.
