Summary/Abstract: Social media used in every stage of social life has been transformed into a kind of propaganda tool by the members of political parties. Due to the possibility of concealing identity in social media, political party members can use social media illegally for their political purposes. In this study, the attitudes of political party members in terms of legal and illegal use of social media and in which level they use it for illegal political purposes are studied. The sample of the study consists of 498 party members, 125 of them are from AK Party (Justice and Development Party), 123 are from MHP (Nationalist Movement Party), 126 are from CHP (Republican People’s Party) and 124 are from HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party). Two scales, which have been specially formed for this research, are used to collect data. Nonparametric analyses are used because of the lack of normal distribution of data. At the end of the study, it is concluded that the AK Party and MHP members have higher legal use while CHP and HDP members have a higher level of illegal use. HDP members are also found to have a higher average of illegal political behaviour.
