Summary/Abstract: The treasury of all practices effected in the Orthodox Church includes among others the consecration of the Holy Chrism by the members of the Holy Synod of one of the Autocephalous Orthodox Churches. This liturgical act occurs exclusively during Saint Basil’s Holy Liturgy, in the Maundy Thursday, with the frequency required by the immediate necessities manifested in that respective church. Beyond the multiple usage of the Chrism within the cult, It involves also a series of Mystical significations capable of transcending “the boundaries of materiality”.
