Summary/Abstract: Non-banking lenders may abuse those consumers who are non professional credit market participants within a financial market. Usually non-banking lenders use practices infringing consumers’ interests by providing incorrect or misleading information about the terms and conditions of the credit agreement, or by offering and granting credits that are unsuitable to clients needs. Another major problem is granting credit to consumers whose creditworthiness might be questionable or in situations when consumers are not creditworthy. Abuses and unethical practices are a result of the lack of Financial Supervision Authority’s supervision over non-banking institutions. In fact, Financial Supervision Authority cannot use any effective legal and economic supervisory measures. Therefore, non banking lenders are encouraged to abuses and unethical behaviours on the credit consumer market. The paper presents a problem of the unethical behaviours on the non-banking lending market, as well as the scale and the scope of the abuses. Author proposes solutions to ensure the compliance with ethical values in business practices of non-banking lenders.
