Summary/Abstract: The paper studies the language of fear in English and Russian and investigates the metaphors and metonymies that contribute to the English and Russian concepts of this universal basic emotion. The paper aims at discussing the role of context in English and Russian linguistic expressions of ‘fear’ and ‘strakh’.
