Psychological Profile Of Internet Addicts

Summary/Abstract: The problem of research is finding out psychological factors correlated with compulsive use of Internet at the expense of all other manifest models of behavior. The first finding of of research was that there is no internet addiction independent from other manifest forms of addictive behavior (such as dependence of nicotine, alcohol and psychoactive materials). In accordance with the previous finding, it is logically connected that the same parts of personality determine behavior in internet addiction and other forms of addiction. Finally, most of the influence on addictive behavior is being manifested in dimension of adventurism (15%), low level of selfcontrol (6%), low agreeableness (6%), low protection (5%), low exploration (5%), high orientation (4%) and high extroversion (4%). The total determination of internet addiction with features of personality is 28%. We may conclude that adventurism and the structures of personality related to it (such as: low level o selfcontrol, agreeableness. protection and research while high level of extroversion, aggression and orientation) determine eventual internet addiction. The listed features of personality are potential basis wile internet addiction is a manifest outcome.
