Summary/Abstract: Ludovic Mrazec (born in Craiova on July 17, 1867, deceased in Bucharest on June 9, 1944) was a prominent Romanian scientist, chair of the Petrography, Mineralogy and Crystallography Department of the University of Bucharest between 1894 and 1930, specialist in geology and mineral resource exploitation, particularly oil and salt resources. He was also a full member of the Romanian Academy of Sciences, its vicepresident from 1913 to 1916, and its president from 1932 to 1935. Ludovic Mrazec is the personality who left his mark on the extraordinary development the Romanian geology went through in the beginning of the twentieth century and then the organization of the mineral resource exploitation in the country, as he was the Minister of Industry and Commerce and author of the Mining Law in 1924.
