Summary/Abstract: Edited by Acad. Prof. Stefan Pascu, the treatise on the History of Romanian Scientific and Technical Thinking and Creation, Vol. 1 From Antiquity to the Creation of Modern Science was published by the Academy of the Socialist Republic of Romania in 1982. It was the fulfillment of an old dream of our tireless and prodigious historian. Its inspired and ambitious structure, with a special note of love for the Romanian territory and its inhabitants over time, added to professor’s selection of his team of collaborators made this publication a moment of accomplishment for the Romanian Academy. Following a General Introduction and Foreword written by Prof. Stefan Pascu, Vol. 1 of the treatise has four parts, each including several chapters. PartI Prolegomena: Culture – Civilization; Science – Society has two chapters written by Prof. Stefan Pascu, whereas the other three parts have been written by his team of collabora tors, with important professor’s contributions in some chapters. The last three parts are the following: Part II Romanian Popular Technical and Scientific Creation, Part III Romanian Educated Scientific and Technical Thinking and Creation in the Ancient Period, and Part IV Romanian Scientific and Technical Thinking and Creation in Middle Ages.
