Summary/Abstract: Between 1868 and 1946, inside the theological school from Caransebeş also existed a reading society of young theologians, which, although had several names, remained known for the historiographical research as the „Ioan Popasu” Lecture Society. The main purpose of the society was to promote the Romanian culture among the young students in theology and faithful, and the action directions where coordinated by the professors of the school and the clergyman who were also ruling the Caransebeş Diocese. Until 1918, the activity of the society was mainly oriented towards the national-Romanian side, while after the Great Union, its actions became predominantly cultural-theological and missionary.
