Summary/Abstract: After a screening of the children reading ability in 14 primary schools in Sofia, sixty children were selected in the study. The children with dyslexia were revealed by the neuropsychological study. With specialised psychometric tests, the group of children with developmental dyslexia was divided into two subgroups: dyslexics with more pronounced phonological deficit and dyslexics with predominantly visual-spatial deficit. Dyslexic children were examined with visual discrimination tasks that confirmed the homogeneity of the two subgroups. After a period of training practices for both subgroups, the reading process was improved.
