EFFECTS OF COMPUTER GAMES IN ADOLESCENTS

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this research; to determine the effects of computer games on a dolescents. For this purpose, descriptive scanning model was used in the research. The population of the study consists of 1723 teachers and 27712 students in 35 public secondary schools in Yenimahalle district of Ankara in 2017 2018 academic year; the sample of the study consists of 250 teachers and 427 parents of 9 secondary schools selected by appropriate sampling method according to socio-economic level. Data collection tool developed by the researcher was used in the study. The data obtained were analy zed by taking frequency and percentage distributions with SPSS 18.0 package program. In addition, Cronbach alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be 0,804. Because of the normal distribution, t test independent of parametric tests was used to determine the difference between teacher and parent views. According to the findings computer games cause according to of the teachers % 98.4 and of the parents % 65.6, computer game addiction; according to of the teachers % 98,8 and of the parents % 89,5 waste of time. Also computer games, while % 98.8 of the teachers and % 79.9 of the parents according to the students' social life negatively affected; of the teachers % 99, 6 and % 68.6 of the parents have negative effects on school success. While % 75.2 of teachers find computer games useful,% 37.7 of parents find it useful.
