Summary/Abstract: The construction of gender identity and the simultaneous adopting of gender stereotypes begins in early childhood through several factors, including the media, which ordinarily contribute to the internalization of certain – and even gender – ideologies. It is commonly known that cartoons occupy a central place in the life of a preschool child. This paper presents the results of analyzing the original and translated discourse of “Peppa Pig”, the globally most popular animated series of recent production (which shows the various events of anthropomorphic female pig, her family and peers, and is intended for children aged 1-3). The cartoons imply identification of the undeniable signals regarding the deconstruction of the existing and the construction of a new gender ideology that marks men as inferior bearers of stereotypes and the identification of typical linguistic means to this effect.
