Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study the spectacular forms of culture in the conditions of totalitarianism and the mechanisms of their functioning. The methodology involves the use of historical approach and general scientific methods: analytical, systemic, comparative to find out the origins and protocols of spectacular culture in a totalitarian society. Scientific novelty is that for the first time the spectacular forms of totalitarian culture are comprehended in the process of the general genesis of these phenomena and in close connection with the processes of ideological influence of the totalitarian system of government as an important element that in general can characterize the development of culture in such a general-historical context. Conclusions. Totalitarianism as a system of coordinates, which cares for the total control of all spheres of society, cannot ignore such an important and influential part as the art of spectacles. Celebrations in the form of processions, rallies, and political campaigns are used by the system of state propaganda and ideology as a means of forming a specially designed consciousness and manipulating them in the interests of the ruling elites.
