Summary/Abstract: Old Serbian literature was an important area in the whole study of the history of Serbian literature by Pavle Popović, who called this oldest period of Serbian literature old in the periodization even though he used the concept of medieval. The chapter Old Serbian Literature, which entered his Review of Serbian Literature in 1909, which he had worked on for several years, was first published in an abbreviated form in 1907 in the journal “Serbian Literary Herald”. This paper focuses on two unknown manuscripts which preceded the writing and final edition of the chapter Old Serbian Literature. This was Popović’s “short draft” of the contents of Old Serbian Literature, where he presented the developed outline of the content of this chapter. According to the outline, in Old Serbian Literature he separated the first general Slavic period of Cyril and Methodius from the medieval texts of non-literary nature. The chapter Old Serbian Literature included the works from the 13th to the 15th century and the 17th century (Đ. Branković, Pajsije). The second manuscript was a “short summary” which extensively developed the notes from the “short draft”.
