Summary/Abstract: This article presents results of research in which fathers of different children took part, among them there were: 35 fathers of autistic children, 37 fathers of children with the Down syndrome and 40 fathers of children with proper development. The aim of this research was to check whether there is correlation between the role of social empowerment and the level of parental stress among fathers. The statistic tool used at this research was the rho-Sperman test. The results of the research provide new information about the role of social empowerment and the level of parental stress. These results are really important as most of tests connected with the parental stress of autistic or Down syndrome children were done among mothers and not fathers. The results of the research indicate that there is no strong correlation between the social empowerment and the level of parental (fathers’) stress.
