Classification of EU member states in view of fuel poverty

Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of the article is an attempt to identify and to analyse the phenomenon of fuel poverty. An effort was made to specify the list of variables to describe fuel poverty Based on these variables a ranking of EU countries was constructed. Using hierarchical and non-hierarchical clustering methods a division into groups of countries of similar characteristics in terms of fuel poverty was provided. Fuzzy c-means method was also used for the classification.
