Summary/Abstract: The first mention of accountability in business, or rather economic activity, appeared in the Bible, where it is possible to find the dominant message of the Gospel principle of brotherhood. But only in the 19th century the law and legal norms were formed which defined the relationship between business and environment. They began to emphasize the importance of corporate responsibility, the more that progress and economic development, and the desire to make a quick profit which was often connected with illegal activities and scandals caused the economic and moral damage to the whole society and the whole environment. This article aims to analyze the historical aspects of the creation of Corporate Social Responsibility strategy as an introduction to research into getting Polish entrepreneurs in the field of agribusiness interested in this concept.
