The Private Entrepreneurship in Food Services and Its Importance

Summary/Abstract: The article presents a description of the private activity in Poland in the food service in 2008–2016 and income derived from it. Unpublished unit data of the Central Statistical Office in Poland was used. The analysis uses simple statistical measures and graphic methods to show results. The economic situation of the respondents was compared with other groups of the population. In the years 2008–2016, was observed the development of gastronomic activity in Poland, which is very regionally different. It is run by people of allages but predominates between the ages of 25 and 40 and secondary education. Entrepreneurs are managers, but also employees in their companies. For 30% of their families, gastronomy is the only source of income that has increased in 2008–2016, but it is not stableand since the year 2013 it has been smaller than other entrepreneurs
