Summary/Abstract: The article represents the analysis of selected psychological problems that were pointed out by family members experiencing a financial crisis associated with taking out a bank loan. There has been an attempt taken to reconstruct psychological factors that trigger both financial and psychological crisis in a family of a borrower. Identification of these psychological factors is an outcome of the author’s empirical studies that she conducted in years 2013 – 2015. A qualitative method of studies has been applied – an Individual In-Depth Interview (IDI), wrought on the basis of the authorial script of conversations with persons being tested. The tested were adults – representative of thirty families of borrowers. Based on analysis of a qualitative data, a reconstruction of factors expanse characterizing a psychological crisis that accompanies a financial crisis in the families of borrowers was conducted. A part of identified factors is probably directly preconditioned by the fact of existing financial crisis and makes up a psychological behavioral reaction to that difficult situation and coexisting permanent stress. The remaining factors, concerning mainly values and attitudes seems to have a primal character, and existing financial crisis has only caused their elicitation and externalization within family relationships and social relationships.
