IT and ICT Tools in Managing Transport in An Emergency Situation

Summary/Abstract: In contemporary world the approach towards managing transport in emergency situation is based on IT and ICT tools that would enable gathering, but also transforming, prioritizing and passing information concerning the situation. In the fast changing digital branch, it seems important not only to know which tools are available to be used; it appears to be equally important to be able to answer the question what strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats contemporary approach to the issue brings. Therefore, the articleis a short presentation of the SWOT analysis of the notion, trying to answer the questions concerning pros and cons of such choice of tools. It is to be highlighted that the core of the concern is not the fact of using or declining to use a particular tool, but the fact of using the tools in such exceptional situation as the emergency. The conclusions of the article focuses on recommendations for the authorities responsible for the appropriate reaction in time of the crisis, trying to differentiate the type of the emergency and the role transport could play in managing it. Believing the issue to be important for many addressees, the authors try togeneralize the core conclusions, leaving the space for further discussion.
