Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyze selected Japanese companies located in Poland in terms of IT systems and automatic identification data application basing on the analysis of different types of information systems the authors have identified four areas of application of systems in the supply chain and conducted focused interviews with representatives of six Japanese companies from the automotive industry located in the province Lower Silesia. The research shows that in the analyzed companies IT systems are most commonly used in the functional areas such as: receiving and order processing, warehouse and inventory management. It can be stated that in the analyzed companies information technology is used to support the Japanese management methods according to the Just in Time concept. Nevertheless, the application of IT systems integrating the entire supply chain is still insufficient.
