Summary/Abstract: This research is a longitudinal case study with a descriptive scope. In case studies, the descriptive approach is qualitative, since the atmosphere or context is formed by the same case Hernández [2013]. Stake [1999] establishes the case study as a possibility for realizing deep analysis of a certain entity. The research question is: is it possible for a small Mexican family enterprise (SME) ventures into an international markets, considering the succession process? There are two objectives: 1. Analyze the chance of insertion into the international markets. 2. Inquire about the effect of the succession of the overall management of the company to the second generation of the family. The information was collected through semi–structured interviews with the founder and his daughters, a questionnaire was also used to assess the capabilities of internationalization of the company Different models of internationalization for SMEs [Uppsala Model, Johanson & Vahlne 1990, 1977; Johanson & Wiedersheim 1975] and analysis of the internal capabilities of the family business for internationalization were analyzed. The results show that the firm has a high potential for internationalization but the inclusion in other markets must be gradual, given the nature of the organization and internal change lives for the succession.
