Summary/Abstract: Sarajevski cvjetnik (Gulseni saray), the first private newspaper in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was published in the period from December 26, 1868 until July 1, 1872 (24th Ramadan 1285 - 7th Jumad-al ewwel in 1289 by Hijra). It was printed in Sarajevo's Vilajet /World/ printing house, once a week. Mehmed Šaćir (Šakir) Kurtćehajić, founder, publisher, editor and author, completely determined the profile of Sarajevski cvjetnik, succeeding in his editorial orientation to overcome the chronological significance of the newspaper, which showed the interest in all spheres of life, especially for education, particularly for politics, both domestic and world, certainly always from the perspective of Bosnia, the Bosnian population, and the Ottoman Empire, which was undergoing a major crisis during those years. By the end of this newspaper's publication, although lonely, Kurtćehajić remained loyal to his principles, literally until his last breath, confronting fierce nationalist propaganda from East and West, with the texts and controversies that were the loudest and most visible expression of his political views.
