In the footsteps of Prince Abemelek in Palmyra

Summary/Abstract: The exact location of the famous Tariff slab, removed from Palmyra to St Petersburg in 1901, was never recorded. Old photographs were now used to identify the spot on the ground and to confirm it by excavation. A wide paved road was found on this occasion at the foot of the Agora. This discovery invites a reconsideration of the topography of the ancient city. The remains of a small archaic shrine preserved in front of the Agora were also recognized.
