Summary/Abstract: After the Congress of Berlin, the Muslim population in Montenegro found itself in a difficult position and started the great migration to the interior of Turkey - to Bosnia, Sannjakof Novi Pazar and Albania. In fear of possible violence and loss of benefits, they left their homes, in long processions going into the unknown, dying of hunger, poverty and disease on long trips. Muhajirs or Muhajerswere a relatively new social category of the Muslim population in the region, in the second half of the 19th and early 20th century. Papers that on the pages of the Historical Writingsdeals with the emigration problem of the Muslim population can be divided into two groups: a) researches dealing with the fate of Muhajirs, directions of their movements, reasons for emigration, and in general, the various facts of the process; b) studies that deal with the emigration problem of the Muslim population as a fact that has causedthe abandonment of agricultural land and other properties by former owners, which resulted in a reverse process - settling the Montenegrin Orthodox settlers on this land.
