Development of the Transportation Ways to Călăraşi in the 19th and 20th Century

Summary/Abstract: Till 1833 Călăraşi was an obscure village on the shore of Borcea stream of the Danube, with its commercial life limited to the small harbour. After 1852, the year when the town was set free of its servitude, recognized as a free town by official charter, the interest for the development of that town grew constantly. The study is reviewing the correspondence, the contracts and the projects kept from that period of time which are relevant for the importance given to the transportation ways.
