Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the results of the multi‑annual studies of the ichthyofauna of the main natural aquatic ecosystems of the Republic of Moldova in a comparative aspect. It was found that the higher ichthyofaunistic diversity of Nistru River is due primarily to the greater diversity of major habitats and to the active process of advancing the Ponto‑Caspian complex. Despite the fact that Prut contains a smaller number species of fish such as fl. Nistru, the percentage with various rarity status is higher.
