Summary/Abstract: More than 11 600 Bulgarian words related to personality characteristics were selected from the Dictionary of Bulgarian language. After several iterations of reducing the number of words in the initial list according to some important criteria 1618 Bulgarian personality adjectives remained. 20-22 native speakers of Bulgarian have scaled these adjectives on four scales — frequency of usage, utility for describing personality, social desirability and clarity of meaning. High inter-rater reliability has been obtained for all scales. Cronbach Alpha varies from 0.89 to 0.98 and inter-rater correlation coefficients are in the range of 0.26 for """"""Utility"" scale to 0.72 for Social desirability scale. Intercorrelation matrix of the four scales consists of high correlation coefficients with the exception of Social desirability scale whose correlation coefficients with other three scales vary from 0.20 to 0.27. The highest correlation (r=0.81) is between the scales of frequency of usage and clarity of meaning. Scale values on the four scales for the first 500 most frequent Bulgarian adjectives are given in 4 tables. The adjectives in a given table are rank ordered according to scale values on the corresponding scale.
