Summary/Abstract: During this period, the wealth and the power of Wallachian boyars were tremendous. Domestic documents – acts of donation and confirmation, princely orders, acts of sale/purchase, writs, etc. – internal chronicles, accounts of foreign travelers help us depict a clearer picture of these huge nobiliary assets. The building of houses in the two residence towns of the country, their increasing implications into the commodity-money relations and the use of their own shops from the urban commercial areas for commercial transactions, these represented new realities which clearly marked the age. These facts were far less analyzed from a single novel point of view, that of civil architecture.
