Summary/Abstract: The contribution draws attention to the effective use of literary stories and the development of communication through creative drama in work with children in pre-primary and primary education. It points to the use of drama situations and a role play that, as a key method of creative drama, allows children to enter someone else's roles. A teacher uses a role play to create variable situations. Creative process opens up a space for children to act, interact, collaborate and communicate. Positive feelings of each participant in activities and a pleasant atmosphere when working with a literary story are an important asset. The paper presents practical examples of work with a literary story enabling children to, through personal experiences, acquire new knowledge and skills positively influencing their personality development.
