Summary/Abstract: The article depicts the linguistic interests of Klementyna Hoffman de domo Tańska (1798–1845), which are visible in her metalinguistic commentaries appearing in the text of “Descriptions of Some Regions of Poland”. The descriptions are the fruit of the trips she took in the 1820s across some regions of Poland. Her linguistic reflections concern the quality of the speech represented by inhabitants of the villages she visited and the meanings of proper names of places, of which folk etymology is quite often referred to.
