Summary/Abstract: The objective of the study is to investigate issues related to the level of sport anxiety of primary school pupils, during sports competitions organized in school, in physical education classes. The hypothesis of the study starts from the premise that the level of sport anxiety differs according to the pupil's gender. The study was attended by 63 pupils aged between 9 - 10/11 years. The work tool used is the adapted version of Sport Anxiety Scale-2 developed by Smith, Smoll, Cumming, and Grossbard in 2006, on Romanian pupils. The results obtained indicate a slightly higher level of sport anxiety at worry subscale. Depending on the gender variable, girls attained slightly higher averages in the worry subscale and at the overall score of the sport anxiety, but the differences obtained by processing the data with parametric comparison samples were not statistically significant. However, greater attention is needed for physical education teachers in organizing physical education classes in terms of diminishing the level of concern during competitive sports trials.
