Summary/Abstract: Abstract: The present paper aims at highlighting the shift in foreign language teaching from a rather traditional approach to one in which the cultural input and the communication of meaning play an essential part. We will forward the idea that one cannot be a teacher of language without being a teacher of culture and vice versa, having the experience of teaching Romanian in the United States as the seed of inspiration in our research. Since cultural content creates the motivation to learn a foreign language and this approach is the means by which all boundaries can be removed, our goal is to encourage language instructors to pay greater importance to this match made in heaven: language and culture.
