Summary/Abstract: The creation of man in the image and likeness of God is a fundamental and distinctive feature of the teaching of orthodox faith. The union with God or the deification by means of the uncreated divine energies constitutes, in the orthodox vision, the purpose of human existence, a perfection that starts from the frameworks of the present life, hic et nunc. The process of philocalic and patristic renewal represents a step of reconnection to the living and personal truth and a guarantee of the authentic experience of the church life. The present study aims to analyze a series of elements characteristic of the teaching of soteriology and anthropology found in the theological work of St. Gregory of Nyssa.
