“Rent Versus Home” Insurance – Opportunity to Improve the Standard of Living and Provide Health-Social Services in the Home Environment of People in Over Working Age

Summary/Abstract: In recent years, statistics show that the population of Bulgaria is aging. Against the background of a general decrease in the number of the population in Bulgaria, there is an increase in the number of people above working age. The share of citizens falling within the age group of 65 years or over is increasing. Poverty is a social phenomenon that affects, to a large extent, people above working age who are also more likely to have health problems. The problem deepens with elderly people living alone that cannot rely on family support. Experience shows that the state is unable to ensure, through its social policy, access to health care and decent life for many of these people. Therefore, the main objective of the study is to find ways that are compatible with the market economy and private initiative of citizens to ensure a better standard of living and access to health care for people above working age. Emphasis is placed on how insurance can support this process by performing its main function.
