Summary/Abstract: Dimitrie Ghika High School, from Bacău county, celebrated at the beginning of the school year 2010–2011, its 57thanniversary. It was established in 1953, one year after the official declaration of Comanesti, as town. From the late 18th century, the town was in the domain of the Ghika Family of boyars, who remained an important presence in the area until the middle of the 20th century. Ghika Palace, the park in front of it, the railway station, are a few testimonies of their presence in the area. In the honor of the most representative member of the family, Dimitrie Ghika, remarked himself in studies of zoology, botany and geology, geography and topography,crossing today’s Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia, where he made notable geographical explorations and natural history discoveries, the high school carries his name since 2004. The school mission is to offer good instruction and education at high quality standards, according to national and European circumstances, boosting career development, enhancing the quality of life and economical prosperity.
