Summary/Abstract: The following article discusses how thestudy of identity can influence and enrich the actor’swork on a Shakespearian part. Looking from the pointof view of the denial of identity in Shakespeare’sworld characters seem to walk the same path, a paththat is very similar to that of the modern man whoconstantly tries to reshape himself through virtualidentities. The fact that this process often ends infailure urges us, both character and spectator, toaccept ourselves and the other for what we really are.
