Summary/Abstract: This study was prompted by the need take action in order to boost the effectiveness of teaching composition/essay writing amidst today’s altered communicational circumstances. The chances of teaching composition/essay writing can significantly be enhanced by developing resourceful originative strategies and exercises. The techniques should be systematized and renewed so that they could aid students' aspirations for self-realization. The creation of imagery, experiential reception and text creation can be assisted by a teaching practice combining the development of free and/or structured text creation as well as receptive and creative activities.Teaching Hungarian language and literature must not be at a loss due to the transition from one culture to another, which can be achieved only if we keep up with the changed receptive habits, if we develop motivating exercises, and boost students’ curiosity.
