Summary/Abstract: The article “The development of social skills through folk dances” brings in foreheads, on the one hand, the current research on the chosen topic, and on the other hand, to the problems that are required to be solved in order to obtain a more complete and clear picture of the relationships between the dance activity and social development.This article is structured in four parts, preceded by an argument. In the first part are briefly described two researches related to the topic addressed. The second part presents the folk dances as context of formation and development of social skills. The third part presents the spontaneous observations on the influence of folk dances on social development at different ages, conducted in the context of some empirical psycho-pedagogical researches. In the final part, we propose some directions of action for future research, in order to optimize the scientific research approaches and to capitalize on their results in education.
