Aspects Regarding the Consequences of Technical Unemployment on the Labor Market

Summary/Abstract: In order to overcome the difficulties that employers may face in conditions of economic crisis, they benefit from the possibility of suspending individual employment contracts in the form of reduction or temporary interruption of activity, suspension known in practice as „technical unemployment”.Technical unemployment can be a way for the employer to safeguard their own business, and for the employee, a guarantee of keeping the job for a certain period of time and, implicitly, of the employee position, insured in public insurance systems.The suspension of individual employment contracts is ordered by an unilateral act of the employer and is based on economic, technological and structural reasons or similar.During the period of technical unemployment, although not working, employees benefit either from a reduced salary, by reference to the reduced work schedule from 5 days a week to 4 days, or from an indemnity of at least 75% of the basic salary corresponding to the place of their occupied job, and is available to the employer.
