KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT IN THE HOTEL SECTOR: EFFECT OF PERFORMANCE AND MARKET ORIENTATION TO CREATE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

Summary/Abstract: This study examined the effect of information management on competitive advantage and the effect of competitive advantage on the hotel performance. The hotel industry focuses on hotel managers' level of performance and market orientation on the information management to create competitive advantage. There aren’t enough studies in both domestic and foreign literature examining the relationship between competitive advantage and knowledge management. It is noteworthy that the studies focusing especially on the hotel industry are very limited. In this perspective, the findings to be obtained in this study are important as they will contribute to the relevant field. This study consists of 6 CEOs and 5 executives working in the hotel industry in Northern Cyprus. Qualitative research method was used since the analysis of the study was based solely on the answers of CEOs and managers. The research brings the organizational role of gaps, hotel performance, competitive advantage, knowledge management concepts in terms of power and use of hotel management. The results of the research show that managers and CEOs have a positive view of the impact of information management between hotel performance and market orientation in creating a competitive advantage in the hotel industry.
