Summary/Abstract: The study is devoted to the presentation of the impact of passenger vehicles on the occurrence of the smog phenomenon. The main objective of the study is to present the age structure of vehicles and emissions of pollutants by passenger vehicles. The studies presented in the study were carried out in real conditions on a representative group of cars, where the main reason for not meeting pollutant limits is the age of vehicles in operation that is too high. The author also carried out an analysis of the transport structure in Poland. The analysis shows that at the end of 2017, a total of 26,678,674 vehicles were registered, including 22,005,578 vehicles. The average age of a registered passenger car in the country is 13 years, and the oldest cars have residents of Szczecin.
