Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the issue of supporting student development from the perspective of teachers’ traits, including genuineness, lifelong interests, and passion for life and development. Based on the threads taken from the biography of Anna Nagórska – teacher, poet, and organiser of cultural events – the author attempts to reconstruct specific “good practices” in the teachers’ work. In order to extend the discussion beyond historical deliberations, the paper also includes questions (and attempts to provide answers) on the possibility and effectiveness of applying similar practices in contemporary schools.
