Around Folk Culture at School (with examples of selected literary texts)

Summary/Abstract: Folk culture can have a significant impact on shaping the identity of the young generation. The author analyses the most recent core curriculum of Polish for primary schools and selected curricula of this subject in terms of the presence of issues related to folk literature. The results of the analysis indicate that the most frequently used in educational practice are texts that have been known for a long time and that originate from folk culture or refer to it various ways. The author emphasizes that the contemporary student, functioning on a daily basis in the digital world, has special expectations towards education. She suggests refreshing the list of readings, methods and forms of work and including modern technologies, which may make the lesson process more attractive.
