Summary/Abstract: The paper assessed the status and spatial diversity of rural areas in rural powiats in terms of their equipment in the water and sewage infrastructure. The subject of the study were main elements of the infrastructure: water supply as well as sewerage and sewage treatment plants. The greatest shortages in water supply facilities in rural areas characterized mainly located in the southern and eastern part of Poland. In addition, the lack of access to services, sewerage and sewage treatment plants occurred mainly in the central and eastern parts of the country. The best situation because of the infrastructure condition has been observed in northern Poland.
