Summary/Abstract: As the concept of the battlefield is continuously shifting and the focus changes towards the dominance of the informational environment, the role of information and information systems becomes more prominent. Considering the increasing proportion of the communications and information technology is becoming wireless, electronic warfare (EW) may find new purposes and targets. In the last few years, EW has become a topic of much debate in the defense industry. Excepting Russian Federation, most of the major military powers for the last 20 years left aside EW. But now, with the impending need to deal with peer and near-peer adversaries and the must-have capability to enter anti-access/area denial (A2AD) environments, EW has become a critical requirement and so a primary and compulsory aspect of modern war.
