First, the image of the saint is observed and his type is determined – he is a martyr. On the basis of this, the nominations are analysed and, more precisely, the epithets, their positioning and frequency in the text are examined. The selected examples in the article prove that the artistic labels used by the author are some sort of motivation for the normativeness of the saint’s image. An idea is alsoemphasized, that the author’s choice is related to the specific stages in the life of the Sofia martyr and is closely connected to the composition and the plot of the whole work.
